No Outdoor Watering Permitted

Watering Hours

Outdoor irrigation is prohibited between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to minimize water loss due to evaporation.

These assigned day watering requirements are in effect now during the spring, summer and early fall months to support system reliability and efficient water use.

Temperatures are predicted to run one to three degrees higher than average throughout the season, with severe heat waves expected in July and August.

Overall, summer conditions are expected to be drier; however, there is a possibility of above-average monsoon activity, particularly in late summer, which could bring sudden, severe thunderstorms. This is according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac and the National Weather Service.

Protect Long-Term Water Supplies

  • Water during early morning or evening hours for maximum efficiency.
  • Adjust irrigation seasonally to avoid overwatering.
  • Regularly inspect sprinkler systems for leaks or damaged lines.
  • Use desert adapted or native landscaping.
  • Applying mulch to landscape and edible gardens are weed suppression, soil moisture retention and keeping soil cool to prevent high-temperature fluctuations.

Water Use Guidelines

  • Avoid watering on windy days.
  • Prevent runoff to conserve water, if necessary, Cycle & Soak. (breaking a long watering duration into multiple shorter cycles with breaks in between to allow water to infiltrate the soil, preventing runoff).
  • Check lawn moisture before irrigating; if grass springs back when stepped on, watering is not necessary.
