Ferson Creek Customer Update

Dear Ferson Creek Customer,

This letter is to inform you of several important upcoming projects to improve your Wastewater Treatment Plant facilities.

As you may be aware, in recent years we completed full replacement projects of our water well and water treatment systems. These projects included the installation of a new well, the addition of an iron filtration system, a ground storage tank, and booster station to address level of service issues. Our next undertaking at Prairie Path Water Company (PPWC) will be the construction of a Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) plant which will create a safer and more environmental sound system than the current Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), which is at the end of its life. Initially constructed in 1977, the aged WWTP has been hindering our ability to perform sufficient wastewater treatment and consistently meet Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) compliance requirements.

Initial work on this project will begin mid-August 2022. We estimate completion one year from now in August 2023. However, in order to meet this timeline, it is likely construction work will be extended outside of business hours during the work week, likely 7AM – 6PM. No work outside the treatment plant property is planned. No weekend work is planned at this time and would only be on a as needed basis.
