Corix Utilities Texas Investing $22.5 Million in Upgrades

Corix Utilities Texas is addressing critical water and wastewater investments to upgrade the local water and wastewater systems. Approximately $22.5 million of investment is underway including over four miles of water main installation and over a mile of wastewater main installation.

Darrin Barker, Senior Vice President of Corix Utilities Texas, said, “While much of the country’s water and wastewater systems often go unnoticed, they deliver life-sustaining and public health support every single day. These systems are aging and need continuous investment to avoid crisis situations like we’ve seen in communities where investment needs are ignored. At Corix Utilities Texas we work hard to upgrade our local systems so our customers can continue to trust the service we deliver now and in the future. Our customers support these investments by paying their bill.”

According to Barker, investments in the local water and wastewater systems include, among others, the following:

- Constructing a new water treatment system to improve drinking water service to Lometa customers.
- Designing a new wastewater treatment plant for the Double Eagle development.
- Constructing a new wastewater treatment plant to support a new Nutty Brown location.
- Installing Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) motors and piping improvements for the Buchanan water system.

- Upgrading water storage tanks and installing new water meters.

Rob Powelson, President and CEO of National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) said, “Communities nationwide are facing massive fiscal challenges to replace water and wastewater infrastructure and effectively manage their systems. Water-related services are extremely capital intensive – more so than electric, natural gas and telecom – which is why it is important water companies take a proactive investment strategy to ensure our country’s water future. We commend Corix Utilities Texas for their continued focus on investment that goes a long way toward ensuring safety and reliability.”
